Overview

Set out on a heritage trail of Armenia through the 12 days of a mesmerising trip exploring the awe inspiring and important monuments.

The trip begins exploring the historic importance of monuments such as Cascade complex and History museum of Armenia giving you opportunities to discover the heritage. Moving ahead you are taken to the nearby village to explore Garni temple and Geghard Monastery (UNESCO).

You can also explore Symphony of Stones. Then the trip progresses towards the ruins of ancient Cathedrals Etchmiadzin & Zvartnots. Moving towards the magical Dilijan town, explore the freshwater lake known as Lake Sevan.

Then discover Sevanavank Monastery, Haghartsin Monastery, Goshavank, Debed Canyon, Amberd Fortress, Heritage wine brewery.

The itinerary of the trip is designed with free days to relax and rejuvenate as well.

Itinerary

Visit the ancient monasteries, Republic Square, showcasing Armenian architecture and stone carvings. Moreover, there is the Amberd Fortress in Aragatsotn.

Day 1: Arrival in Yerevan

Arrival at the Zvartnots International Airport, meeting our experienced travel representative. Then transfer to the hotel in Armenia’s Capital city, Yerevan. Check in for the accommodation and rest for the day.

Overnight Stay: Yerevan

Day 2: Visiting Yeveran Tourist places+

In the morning, get ready and take breakfast in the hotel's dining area. Then visit Yerevan for sightseeing, offering a gentle introduction to Armenian history as the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. First visit Republic Square, showcasing traditional Armenian stonework. Additionally, it is also called the architectural heart of Yeveran.

Continue the exploration to the Cascade complex, a cultural landmark offering panoramic views of the city and Mount Ararat. Then also discover the History Museum of Armenia to get a glimpse of Armenia's ancient civilisation. Later, I returned to the hotel for meals and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Garni Temple - Geghard Monastery - Khor Virap+

Post breakfast, take a ride to visit the Garni village. Upon arrival, visit the Garni temple, which is worth visiting as it is the only surviving Greco-Roman temple. Next, visit Geghard Monastery, a rock-cut monastery which is a UNESCO-listed world heritage site. Experience the carvings showcasing the Armenian artistry. Evenings are free for leisure. Then, return to the hotel for dinner and rest.

Day 4: Etchmiadzin & Zvartnots (Birthplace of Christianity)+

In the quest to discover the historic places, drive to Vagharshapat(20 km) to visit Etchmiadzin Cathedral. It is the world's oldest cathedral in Armenia. It is a must-visit place for its spiritual and historic importance. Then, explore Zvartnots Cathedral Ruins, also a UNESCO-listed heritage site and masterpiece of medieval Armenian architecture. Optionally relax at the local cafes, and alternatively visit the Etchmiadzin Treasury Museum.

Day 5: Yeveran - Dilijan+

On day five, depart for Dilijan Town, also known as the Switzerland of Armenia. En route, stop at Lake Seven. Enjoy the tranquil, fresh waters of the sacred high altitude lake in the world. Then explore the Sevanavank Monastery, built in 874 AD, and witness the stone carvings. Continue the journey to Dilijan. Upon arrival, check in to your stay and then, after resting, take a stroll through the forest paths and the old streets. The day ends with dinner and overnight rest.

Day 6: Dilijan Monasteries (Medieval Learning Centres)+

After your breakfast, board the vehicle to explore the sites in Dilijan. Visit Haghartsin monastery situated in the Dilijan National Park. Then discover Goshavank for the manuscript writing. The monastery was a medieval centre of education. Afterwards, rest or discover the nearby stores and cafes. Shop or stroll through to discover artists' shops. Afternoon to evening is free time to rest or explore.

Day 7: Haghpat & Sanahin Monasteries (UNESCO)+

After breakfast in the morning, drive to Haghpat and Sanahin Monasteries, both of which are UNESCO-recognised heritage sites and mediaeval times centres for science and religion. Then also visit the Debed canyon, enjoying the scenic views and the countryside drive. Return to your accommodation by evening. 

Overnight Stay: Dilijan

Day 8: Leisure Day for Rejuvenation+

The eighth day of the trip is reserved for rejuvenation and spa activities. You can take therapies and spa treatments in the naturally healing surroundings of Dilijan. It is also a rest after so many days of sightseeing that involves walking and hiking. Rest and refresh for the upcoming days of the trip.

Day 9: Aragatsotn – Fortresses & Sacred Landscapes+

After breakfast, leave for the destinations Amberd Fortress and Saghmosavank Monastery. The Amberd fortress is situated on the slopes of Mount Aragats as a medieval defence. Saghmosavank Monastery is famous and has historical importance as it served as the major educational hub in the 1200s.

Overnight Stay: Yerevan

Day 10: Areni & Noravank+

Drive on day ten to the Areni region and explore the wine tasting in the village. Then visit the Noravank Monastery, which has universal value as it is an architectural masterpiece. Return to Yeveran in the evening, enjoying the naturally delightful landscape on the way. 

Overnight Stay: Yerevan

Day 11: Tatev - Southern Armenia+

After breakfast, depart for the southern part of Armenia to visit historic Tatev. Visit the Tatev Monastery, one of the medieval universities and religious centres. Optionally experience the Tatev Cable Car, the world’s longest reversible cable car. Then visit Khndzoresk Cave Village to witness the historic cave settlement and the local life. Afterwards, return to Yeveran, capturing the scenic journey. Upon arrival, enjoy your farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 12: Departure from Yeveran+

This is the final day of your trip. Have your breakfast and then check out of the hotel for departure. Head to Zvartnots International Airport for your onward flight with a phone filled with memorable pictures of the trip.
