The temple faces west (which is kind of unique!) and houses Lord Dakshinamurthy sitting pretty on Nandhi, the bull, that’s Lord Shiva’s ride! He holds a deer and a battle-axe, with his fingers forming a Chinmudra; it’s like a cool hand symbol where the thumb and second finger touch while the other three fingers hang out separately.

This hand gesture has a deep meaning behind it – it represents the soul (that’s the second finger) reaching out to join with the universal spirit (the thumb), steering clear from arrogance, fate, and illusion (the other three longer fingers).

Giving Thanks:

Local hotel owners spread love by feeding poor folks. Devotees get into the spirit by offering milk, honey, river water & steamed rice for what we call abishek – it's pretty heartwarming.

The temple is open from 6.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. and from 5.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. Perfect timing to sneak in a quick visit or end your day on a peaceful note!
