Overview

This 9-day 8-night journey through Gujarat takes you across some of India’s holiest destinations, blending ancient Jyotirlinga shrines, coastal serenity, architectural wonders, and historical landmarks.

The tour begins in Ahmedabad, where travellers explore the Sabarmati Ashram, the intricate Adalaj Stepwell, the Indo-Saracenic beauty of Sidi Sayed Mosque, and the medieval Teen Darwaja and Sarkhej Roza.

From Rajkot, the sacred city of Dwarka begins. One of the Char Dham destinations, Dwarka, is deeply associated with Lord Krishna and is home to the renowned Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve sacred Jyotirlingas.

Dwarka’s spiritual aura continues with excursions to Bet Dwarka, believed to be Krishna’s ancient kingdom, and the grand Dwarkadhish Temple, where rituals and aarti offer unforgettable experiences. The journey onward to Somnath includes an optional stop at Porbandar, the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi.

Somnath, one of the most celebrated Jyotirlingas, symbolises resilience through centuries of invasions and reconstructions. The Somnath Temple’s evening Light & Sound Show narrates its glorious legacy, while nearby sites like Bhalka Tirth (where Lord Krishna is believed to have left his earthly form) and the serene Triveni Sangam deepen the spiritual ambience.

The tour ends with a scenic transfer to Diu, from where the quiet coastal charm and colonial remnants offer a breezy end. From vibrant cities to coastal pilgrimages, from mythological legends to architectural gems, this journey by Cholan Tours offers a complete spiritual and cultural experience across Gujarat.

FAQs on Nageshwar & Somnath Jyotirlinga Tour Package

What is the significance of Nageshwar Jyotirlinga?

Nageshwar is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. It symbolises protection from negativity and poison. Although its exact original location is debated, the Dwarka shrine is deeply revered and attracts thousands of devotees annually.

What are Somnath Temple timings?

Somnath Temple generally remains open from early morning until late evening with multiple aarti sessions. Timings typically are from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM, but seasonal variations exist, so visitors can check once again with our tour guides.

When is the best time to take this tour?

October to March is ideal due to pleasant weather, comfortable travel, and smooth darshan experiences. Summer can be hot, while monsoon may occasionally disrupt coastal travel, though temples remain accessible year-round for devotees.

Are there long drives on this itinerary?

Yes, particularly Ahmedabad to Rajkot and Rajkot to Dwarka. This itinerary is designed to break long stretches comfortably while ensuring travellers enjoy sightseeing without fatigue. You can also take optional flights from Ahmedabad to Rajkot, which shortens travel time significantly.

Is photography allowed inside the temples?

Most major temples, including Somnath and Dwarkadhish, restrict photography inside sanctum areas for security and religious reasons. However, visitors may photograph the outer complexes. Always check posted guidelines or ask temple staff for clarity.

Are ferry services to Bet Dwarka reliable?

Ferry services operate regularly but are subject to weather conditions. During rough seas or monsoon, schedules may change.

Can elderly travellers join this trip?

Yes, the tour is senior-friendly with moderate walking and comfortable drives. Cholan Tours provides wheelchair assistance, temple ramp access, and flexible sightseeing to ensure convenience for elderly travellers.

What should I wear while visiting temples?

Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is recommended. Comfortable footwear is essential, though shoes must be removed before entering the temple premises. Light cottons work best during warm months, while shawls or layers help in cooler evenings.

Can Somnath and Nageshwar temples be visited in one shorter trip?

Yes, but the travel distance between Dwarka and Somnath requires adequate planning. This extended itinerary ensures travellers avoid rushed schedules and enjoy both shrines comfortably while also experiencing cultural sites and coastal landmarks en route.
