Itinerary

The Maharashtra Wild Trail tour by The Deccan Odyssey offers wildlife adventures across western India, starting your journey from Mumbai. The first stop during your journey will be Aurangabad, where you will visit the Ellora Caves, the Elephant Tank, Jama Masjid, Chini Mahal, and Chand Minar. Then stop by Ramtek for a game drive in Pench National Park. The train will then take you to Chandrapur station, from where you can visit the Tadoba National Park. Then the train will head towards Jalgaon, where you can explore the Ajanta Caves, before going for wine tasting at Grover Zampa Vineyard in Nashik. Then head towards the last tourist destination of the Maharashtra Wild Trail tour, before you head off to Mumbai for disembarkation. Enjoy your journey with Deccan Odyssey as you explore and experience the best of western India.
Day 1: Arrival in Mumbai−
Arrive at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus between 16:00 and 16:30 hours, to board the train after your check-in and registration process. You will be warmly welcomed by the Deccan Odyssey staff. The train will then depart for Aurangabad.
Day 2: Aurangabad – Ellora Caves+
You will reach Aurangabad this morning. After a scrumptious breakfast, enjoy your day leisurely before setting out to explore the Ellora Caves. Explore the total of 34 rock-cut shrines, the Kailash Temple, and afterwards enjoy lunch onboard the Deccan Odyssey. Next, visit the Daulatabad Fort, which comprises several structures, including the Elephant Tank, Jama Masjid, Chini Mahal, and Chand Minar. Enjoy your dinner on board the train.
Day 3: Aurangabad+
After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing adventure of Aurangabad, starting the tour with a visit to Bibi-ka-Maqbara. Next, visit the weaving centre, which specialises in weaving Himroo fabric. Return to the train for the afternoon to get some rest and enjoy the train’s world-class amenities. Enjoy your time in the train’s lounge, Mumbai-Hi, before a decadent dinner.
Day 4: Ramtek+
As soon as the train reaches Ramtek, you will depart for a game drive inside the famed Pench National Park. This national park is well-maintained and was even awarded the Best Management Award in 2011. Some of the animals that you can spot in the park are Nilgai, Tiger, Wild Dog, Wild Pig, and over 250 species of birds, including Malabar pied hornbills, waterfowl, storks, and endangered vultures. Then return to the train for a delightful and fulfilling brunch. Enjoy a leisurely day on the train, taking advantage of its worldly features. Later at night, enjoy your dinner on board as the train heads towards the next destination on the route, Tadoba.
Day 5: Tadoba+
The train will reach Chandrapur station in the morning, and you will spend the first half of your day enjoying a wildlife safari inside the Tadoba National Park, which houses a decent population of big cats and other interesting animals, including tigers, deer, wild pigs, spotted cats, and a large variety of birds. Head back to the train and enjoy the facilities and amenities provided on board. The train will head towards the next destination, Jalgaon.
Day 6: Jalgaon - Ajanta Caves+
The train will arrive at the Jalgaon station, and after you enjoy a delicious breakfast on board, disembark and start your drive towards Ajanta Caves, A UNESCO World Heritage site located in Jalgaon. Explore the 30 rock-cut Buddhist caves and their Buddhist religious paintings. Later return to the train for lunch on board. After engaging in some recreational activities on board and relaxing, enjoy a delightful dinner as the train leaves for Nashik.
Day 7: Nashik+
The train will reach the Nashik station in the morning, and after you savour a delightful breakfast, start your travel with a stroll along the Godavari Ghats. Then drive towards Grover Zampa vineyards and explore India’s finest wine-producing vineyards. Pair your favourite wine with delicious food for an exquisite vineyard experience. Return to the train to leave for Aurangabad.
Day 8: Mumbai+
You will end your journey where it began at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station in Mumbai. Bid goodbye after a memorable and adventurous time.

Your request for cancellation must be made in writing and must be acknowledged by Royal Indian Trains. The terms for refunds and cancellation fees are as follows:

  • If the cancellation request is received more than 61 days before the train tour departure, no cancellation fees will be applied.
  • If the cancellation request is received 47-61 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fee will be 20% of the ticket value.
  • If the cancellation request is received 32-46 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fee will be 50% of the ticket value.
  • If the cancellation request is received less than 32 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fees applied will be 100% of the ticket value.
  • If the train tour is cancelled due to low occupancy or technical issues, you will be informed in advance and refunded in full, as per RBI guidelines.
