




Located in the picturesque hill station of Yercaud in Salem district, the Nagalur – Sanniyasimalai Peak Trail is a beginner-friendly trek that traverses through eucalyptus plantations, semi-evergreen forests, and lush Shola patches before reaching the fern-covered summit. The trail offers breathtaking views of valleys, rocky peaks, and the distant Mettur Dam. Sanniyasimalai Peak is also known as the origin point of the Sarabanga River, a tributary of the Cauvery River. Rich biodiversity, misty mountain landscapes, and serene surroundings make this trek one of the most rewarding experiences in the Shevaroy Hills.
The Nagalur – Sanniyasimalai Peak Trail starts from the scenic village of Nagalur near Yercaud and takes trekkers through beautiful eucalyptus groves and dense Shola forests. The moderate climb leads to a spectacular viewpoint covered with ferns and moss, offering panoramic views of the valleys below.
The region supports rich biodiversity and is home to Indian Gaur, Bonnet Macaque, numerous bird species, butterflies, and medicinal plants. Throughout the trek, visitors can experience the cool climate and peaceful ambiance of the Eastern Ghats.
