About Trek

The Gudiyam Caves Trail is a beginner-friendly heritage trek near Chennai, located in the Thiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. The route passes through dry evergreen forest, rocky terrain, village-side landscapes and natural cave surroundings before reaching the historic Gudiyam Caves.

Day 1: Gudiyam Caves Trek

8:00 AM – Report at Gudiyam Reception Point
Arrive at the trek reception point, complete entry formalities and meet the assigned trek guide.

8:15 AM – Safety Briefing
The guide explains the trail route, forest rules, walking discipline, safety instructions and important do’s and don’ts.

8:30 AM – Start the Trek
Begin the walk through the dry evergreen forest trail. The route includes natural paths, rocky patches, shrubs and open forest sections.

9:30 AM – Forest Trail and Nature Walk
Continue towards the cave area while observing the natural forest surroundings, birds, trees and rocky landscape.

10:15 AM – Reach Gudiyam Caves
Explore the cave surroundings with guidance. Learn about the prehistoric importance of the site and take time for photography.

11:00 AM – Return Trek Begins
Start walking back through the same route towards the reception point.

12:00 PM – Trek Ends
Reach Gudiyam Reception Point and complete the trek.
