About Trek

The Avalanche Kolaribetta Trail is a beautiful high-altitude trekking experience in the Nilgiris. The route passes through Cauliflower Shola forest, open grasslands, old wattle plantation areas and rolling mountain terrain before reaching the Kolaribetta tower region.

This trek is moderate in difficulty. It is not an extreme expedition, but the 11 km distance, hill terrain, cool weather and forest route require basic stamina and preparation. The trail is best suited for trekkers who can walk continuously for several hours and follow guide instructions in a forest environment.

Day 1: Avalanche Kolaribetta Trek

9:00 AM – Report at Avalanche Reception Point
Arrive at the reception point, complete registration and meet the trek guide.

9:15 AM – Transfer to Trek Starting Point
Proceed from the reception point to the starting area by arranged local transport.

9:30 AM – Safety Briefing and Trek Start
The guide explains the route, forest rules, safety instructions, wildlife precautions and group discipline.

10:15 AM – Shola Forest Trail
Begin trekking through the shola forest section with shaded paths, cool weather and rich Nilgiris vegetation.

11:15 AM – Grassland and Wattle Section
Continue through open grasslands and wattle patches with scenic mountain views.

12:15 PM – Short Rest Break
Take a break for water, snacks and photography. Stay with the group and avoid shortcuts.

1:00 PM – Trek Towards Kolaribetta
Continue towards the Kolaribetta side with views of Mukurthi Peak, Upper Bhavani Dam and surrounding hill slopes.

2:00 PM – Reach Kolaribetta Tower / Viewpoint Area
