Discover Ragigudda Sri Prasanna Anjaneya Temple: Spiritual Haven in South Bangalore
Hanuman Temple: Situated atop Raagi Gudda (Maize Mountain), Hanuman Temple draws numerous devotees from South Bangalore. Legend has it that a large mound of Ragi (a type of grain) miraculously transformed into stone, giving the hillock its name, "Ragigudda." During a significant event, the Trimurtis, Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva, visited this site. They transformed into three large stone pillars, wishing to reside here permanently. Their continuing presence serves as a testament to the unending flux of the world.
Each year, Sri Hanumath Jayanti is celebrated with great fervour for 12 days, featuring special rites such as abhishekas, homas, and poojas. Maha Prasada is offered daily to thousands of devotees. Beyond spiritual activities, the temple has evolved into a hub for cultural, educational, and social services, providing free medical check-ups, education, a book bank, coaching for students, and facilities for meditation, yoga, music, and Vedic reading. It also houses a library and a Go Shala (cow shed). The Hanuman Jayanthi festival here is known for its varied themes.
