From Vagamon, continue to Kanjirapally, where you’ll stay at Kalaketty Estate, surrounded by plantations and spice farms. Here, you’ll learn about local produce, the art of spice cultivation, and enjoy hands-on cooking lessons with expert hosts. The tour also offers cultural depth with visits to bee farms, temples, and village schools, providing a glimpse into Kerala’s heartland.

The backwater town of Alleppey offers an overnight houseboat cruise with freshly cooked Kerala meals onboard, followed by homestay experiences in Cherthala. From toddy tapping to coir-making, fishing with locals, and village explorations, every moment blends culture with cuisine. By the end of this immersive journey, you’ll not only taste Kerala but also carry its flavours and traditions home with you.

Itinerary

This culinary journey combines authentic Kerala flavours, cultural experiences, and serene landscapes. Destinations to travel: Cochin, Vagamon, Kanjirapally, Alleppey, Cherthala.

Day 1: Cochin Arrival

Arrive at Cochin airport, where you will be received by our company representative holding a placard and assisted to the hotel in Fort Cochin for check-in.

In the afternoon, enjoy a guided city tour visiting the Jewish Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Basilica, and the Chinese Fishing Nets. Later in the evening, explore the town on your own and enjoy seafood at a beachside restaurant.

Day 2: Cochin+

After breakfast, visit Nimmy Paul’s home for a cooking demonstration and lunch. Begin with a market visit to buy fresh vegetables and fish, followed by cleaning, preparation, and cooking. In the evening, return to Fort Cochin and visit Greenix Cultural Village to watch Kerala art performances, including Kathakali and Kalaripayattu.

Day 3: Cochin – Vagamon+

After breakfast, drive to Vagamon, a serene hill station, and check into the Vanilla County homestay. Be warmly welcomed by your hosts and enjoy delicious Kerala meals. In the evening, walk through plantations and relax in a natural pond.

Day 4: Vagamon+

After breakfast, enjoy local sightseeing, including a visit to the church on the hilltop and a tour of the dairy farm. Later, return to the homestay for a cooking demonstration class and relish the meals prepared.

Day 5: Vagamon – Kanjirapally+

After breakfast, drive to Kanjirapally and check into Kalaketty Estate homestay overlooking plantations and paddy fields. Relax and enjoy the hospitality of your hosts, who will serve authentic Kerala food.

Day 6: Kanjirapally+

After breakfast, take a tour of the plantation to see the cultivation of spices, fruits, and rubber. Visit the bee farm, temple, and a school for the blind. In the evening, learn Indian cooking from Mrs Anuja, who will teach you traditional Kerala dishes.

Day 7: Kanjirapally – Alleppey+

After breakfast, drive to Alleppey and board your private houseboat at 12:00 noon. Cruise along backwater canals, passing temples, churches, paddy fields, and local villages. Enjoy freshly prepared Kerala meals, cooked by the houseboat crew.

Day 8: Alleppey – Cherthala+

After breakfast, disembark from the houseboat at 9:00 am and drive to Ayanat House homestay in Cherthala. Relish home-cooked Kerala meals, enjoy plantation walks, witness the process of toddy tapping, and participate in cooking demonstrations.

Day 9: Cherthala+

After breakfast, visit a local village to see coir and rope making, farmers at work, and prawn farming. Try fishing with the locals; your catch can be served for dinner. Later, enjoy a country boat ride through narrow backwater canals. Overnight stay at Ayanat House.

Day 10: Cherthala – Cochin Departure+

After breakfast, depending on your flight/train schedule, you will be assisted back to Cochin airport or station for your onward journey.
