Starting from the lush green valleys leading to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, travellers are welcomed by peaceful monasteries, panoramic viewpoints, and high-altitude wonders like Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. The crisp mountain air, winding roads, and scenic surroundings create a refreshing escape from city life.

The journey continues to Darjeeling, known for its colonial charm, sprawling tea estates, and spectacular views of the Kanchenjunga range. Witnessing the sunrise from Tiger Hill is a truly unforgettable experience, as the first rays illuminate the snow-clad peaks. Visits to monasteries, cultural centres, and tea gardens further enrich the experience.

This itinerary is ideal for travellers seeking a mix of nature, relaxation, and light exploration, offering a seamless blend of Himalayan landscapes, cultural encounters, and memorable scenic moments.

 

Itinerary

This journey covers Gangtok and Darjeeling, featuring Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, Himalayan viewpoints, monasteries, tea gardens, and sunrise at Tiger Hill, offering a scenic and cultural experience across the Eastern Himalayas.

Day 1: New Jalpaiguri Railway Station / Bagdogra to Gangtok

Upon arrival at New Jalpaiguri Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, you will be greeted and assisted for your transfer to Gangtok. The scenic drive through winding mountain roads, rivers, and lush greenery sets the tone for your Himalayan journey.

On arrival, check in to your hotel and relax. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatise to the altitude and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. Overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 2: Excursion to Tsomgo Lake & Baba Mandir+

After breakfast, proceed for a full-day excursion to the breathtaking Tsomgo Lake, a glacial lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The serene setting and changing colours of the lake offer a magical experience.

Continue to New Baba Mandir, a sacred shrine dedicated to Baba Harbhajan Singh, revered by locals and the army alike. After darshan, return to Gangtok. Evening at leisure. Overnight stay.

(Optional: Visit to Nathula Pass, subject to permit and availability.)

Note:

Documents for Tshangu Lake & New Baba Mandir – 02 Passport Size Photo along with Photo Copy of Photo ID Proof (Passport or Driving License or Voter ID (Pan Card & Adhaar Card is not accepted). For Children below 18 years, School Id / College Id are a must. Original to be brought with self while travelling.

Incase visit to Tshangu Lake is not possible, due to landslide or any other unforeseen reasons, alternative sightseeing will be provide.

Process for Foreigner, OCI & PIO Card holder are completely different, kindly inform us well in advance to plan out the itinerary accordingly.

Optional:

Nathula Pass (14137 Ft / 4310 Mts) Indo China Border (closed on Monday & Tuesday for tourist), visit is limited to Indian nationals only, allowed on the basis of advance permit & on extra cost. For rate, kindly refer to Supplement & Optional Cost Column, given below the main package cost.

Day 3: Gangtok – Darjeeling+

After breakfast, explore Gangtok’s key attractions including Tashi View Point, Ganesh Tok, Hanuman Tok, Flower Exhibition Centre, and a monastery offering spiritual calm.

Later, proceed on a scenic drive to Darjeeling, passing through picturesque hills and tea gardens. On arrival, check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Darjeeling.

Day 4: Darjeeling+

Early morning at around 0400 am (subject to clear weather) for visit to Tiger Hills to view the sunrise over mighty Kanchendzonga Peak (Third highest peak in the world). Back to hotel for breakfast.

After breakfast go for a half-day sightseeing of local Darjeeling covering Japanese Temple & Peace Pagoda, Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park & Himalayan Mountaineering Institute (Closed on Thursday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays), Tenzing & Gombu Rock,Tibetan   Refugee Self-Help Center (Closed on Sunday, Local Festival and State & National Govt. holidays) and Panoramic tour of Tea Estate.

Back to Hotel, Overnight at hotel.

Note:

Tiger Hill visit is subjected to availability of coupons, as only 600 vehicles are allowed in the morning. In case of non availability of coupons we will provide the Tiger Hill visit after breakfast.

Optional:

Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) popularly known as Joy Train Ride. For rate, kindly refer to Supplement & Optional Cost Column, given below the main package cost.

Day 5: Darjeeling – New Jalpaiguri Railway Station/ Bagdogra Airport+

After breakfast transfer to New Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB), for onwards connection.

Optional:

Detour, drive via *Pashupati Nagar visit (Indo-Nepal border) for shopping & Mirik Lake

Note:

* For Pashupati Nagar visit (Indo-Nepal border) for shopping, our vehicle will stop at the Indian side of the boarder & the guest will have to walk to the Nepalese side of the border, where they can easily hire a local taxi which need to taken care on direct payment basis. Or you can also easily walk to reach the market which is just 2 Kms from the boarder gate.

What is the best time to visit Gangtok and Darjeeling?

The best time to visit is from March to June and October to December. During these months, the weather is pleasant, skies are clear, and mountain views are at their best. Winters can be cold, especially in Gangtok, while monsoons may bring heavy rainfall affecting travel plans.

Are permits required for Tsomgo Lake and Nathula Pass?

Yes, permits are mandatory for visiting Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. These are arranged in advance with valid ID proof and photographs. Nathula Pass requires special permits and is subject to availability, weather conditions, and government regulations.
