Dhokra, also known as the bell metal craft, employs the ancient Lost Wax Tradition, a technique dating back at least 2000 years. Artisans create various products using brass, bronze, silver, and gold through this foolproof lost wax method. A distinctive feature of this process is that each product is unique, with no replicas.

At the beginning, the clay model is adorned with necessary embellishments and beeswax. The model is then covered with clay and allowed to dry. The artisans' exceptional metallurgical skills ensure that the molten alloy poured into the model melts the beeswax, which is then drained out, resulting in a one-of-a-kind art piece. Finally, the outer clay is carefully removed to reveal the finished product.

This unique tradition crafts various motifs, idols, figures, statues, and home décor items, involving more than 50 families for centuries. The highly labor-intensive work can take days or weeks, depending on the product's design complexity.
