Upon arrival at Cochin Airport, you will be greeted by our representative. Later, proceed to Fort Cochin or Ernakulam City. Cochin is divided into three parts: Fort Cochin (Historical Town), Willingdon Island (a Man-Made Island), and Ernakulam (the New City). On arrival, check in to your pre-booked hotel. In the afternoon, proceed to explore Fort Cochin with visits to the Jewish Synagogue, Dutch Palace, Chinese fishing nets, St. Francis Church, and Santa Cruz Basilica. Then visit Ernakulam city, including MG Road, Marine Drive, Broadway Market, and the famous Shiva Temple. In the evening, you may enjoy Kerala’s traditional Kathakali dance or shop at Lulu International Mall, India’s largest shopping mall. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Alleppey, also known as Alappuzha – “The Venice of the East”. On arrival, embark on the traditional “Kettuvallam” houseboat at 12:00 pm from the boat jetty and start cruising through canals and lakes. Witness bridges, temples, churches, paddy fields, and village life. A traditional Kerala lunch, featuring Karimeen fry (Pearl Spot Fish Fry), will be served onboard, followed by evening tea/coffee and snacks. By 5:30 pm, the boat anchors at a quiet village or paddy field. Dinner will be served at night. Overnight stay in the houseboat. Next morning at 8:00 am, the cruise continues, and after breakfast at 9:00 am, you will disembark at Alleppey jetty.
After breakfast, check out from the houseboat and proceed to Kovalam, “The Paradise of Beach”. Kovalam offers Lighthouse Beach, Hawah Beach, and Shangumugam Beach. It is also known for its Ayurveda therapies. On arrival, check in to the hotel and relax. In the evening, enjoy a stroll along the beachside. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, proceed on a sightseeing tour in Trivandrum, the capital of Kerala. Visit the famous Padmanabhaswamy Temple, Kuthiramalika Palace (Horse Palace), and MG Road. Continue to the Napier Museum, Art Gallery, and Zoo. In the afternoon, enjoy local cuisine in Thiruvananthapuram (also known as Trivandrum) city before returning to Kovalam. After breakfast, check out of the hotel and proceed to Kumarakom, another backwater paradise situated on the Vembanad Lake. See the Thanneermukkom Bund (India’s largest mud regulator). On arrival, check in to the hotel and relax. In the evening, you can opt for a motorboat or canoe ride on the lake. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After breakfast, explore Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary (Vembanad Bird Sanctuary), a popular spot for migratory birds. Visit the Bay Island Driftwood Museum, home to unique driftwood sculptures. Later, proceed to Kottayam, just 30 minutes away, and visit the Holy Virgin Mary Church (Valiyapally) and St. Mary’s Orthodox Syrian Church (Cheriyapally). Enjoy shopping at Kottayam town before returning to Kumarakom. Overnight stay at the hotel.
After an early breakfast, drive back to Cochin for departure. You will be transferred to Cochin Airport for your onward journey with beautiful memories of the Kerala backwaters.
