Itinerary

Trichy | Kumbakonam 3N | Trichy 
Day 1: Trichy – Kumbakonam

Arrive at Trichy International Airport / Railway Station early in the morning before 10:00 AM. Upon arrival, you will be received by our tour executive, who will introduce you to your driver.

Straight drive to Thingalur village in Kumbakonam to visit Chandiranaar Temple also called Thingalur Kailasanathar Temple. However, the main idol in the temple is Lord Shiva, the presiding deity is Soma (moon). Devotees believe that those who have Chandra Dosha are sure to get relief from their pain and suffering by offering prayers at Chandran Temple, dedicated to Moon God. This temple is also one of the ‘276 Paadal Petra Sthalams of Lord Shiva.

Then visit the Apathsagayeswarar Temple or Guru Temple in Aalangudi in the Tiruvarur district of Tamilnadudedicated to the planet Jupiter or Brihaspati who is known for his excellence in wisdom, education and fine arts. In the afternoon, visit the Suriyanar Temple dedicated to Sun God. It is the only temple in Tamilnadu that has separate shrines for all 9 Navagrahas and Lord Shiva blessed that those who pray here will get relief from their problems.

Later, visit the Sukran Temple (also known as Agneeswarar Shukran Temple) at Kanjanoor which is dedicated to Lord Sukran or planet Venus. In Horoscope, Lord Sukran is believed to resolve problems related to love, marriage, beauty, and comforts and is mostly worshipped by men for the well-being of their wives.  An unfavorably positioned Sukran in one’s horoscope causes eye ailments, indigestion and impotency, loss of appetite and skin problems. Here, Lord Sukran is offered white Lotus flower, white cloth, mochai kottai (common bean) and aththi (fig) to alleviate problems caused by Sukra dosham in one’s horoscope.  Friday is the day of Sukran and worship on Fridays is considered very special. Later, head back to your hotel for a peaceful stay after having a delectable dinner from your preferred restaurant enroute to hotel. Overnight stay at Kumbakonam.

Day 2: Kumbakonam – Thirunallar – Kumbakonam+

Start the day with a visit to the Tirunageswaram Naganathar Temple also known as Rahu Stalam (represents the North Lunar Node), located in Tirunageswaram, a village in the outskirts of Kumbakonam Tirunageswaram is one of the ‘276 Padal Petra Sthalams’ of lord Shiva and also one of the Panchakrosa Sthalams. The presiding Deity is Giri Gujambika Sametha Naganathaswamy. The Temple attracts devotees who want to get relieved of Naga Dosha. Here, Lord Rahu is seen with a human face while in other places, Lord Rahu is usually seen with a serpent face.  

Further, head-on to Saneeswaran Temple (temple for planet Saturn) which is located in a small town called Thirunallar which is 5 K.M. west of Karaikal city, a part of Puducherry Union Territory. Among the nine Navagrahas, Lord Saturn (Saneeswaran) occupies a very important place. Whoever visits this temple and prays before Lord Saneeswaran were believed to have been relieved of all the curses and sufferings and get the blessings of Lord Shani (one of the nine Navagraha) for a happy and prosperous life. This ancient Siva temple was probably constructed in 7th Century A.D. Devotees believe that taking a holy dip in Nala Theertham at this temple will wash off all kinds of misfortunes and afflictions caused by their past karmas.

In the afternoon, head-on to visit the Sri Naganathaswamy Temple or Kethu Temple at Kilperumpallam near Thiruvengadu in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamilnadu. It is dedicated to Ketu Bhagwan. Here Ketu is enshrined with the body of an asura and the head of a snake. Here, devotees pray and offer pooja to Lord Kethu to get rid of certain effects such as "Naga Dosha", Puthira Thosam, Kethu Dosham, and Mangalya Doshas. Later, return to Kumbakonam for a peaceful stay after having a delectable dinner from your preferred restaurant enroute to your hotel.

Day 3: Kumbakonam – Vaitheeswaran Koil – Kumbakonam+

Today morning, drive to Vaitheeswaran koil (Sevvai Temple) which is one of the nine navagraha (nine planets) temples and is associated with the planet Mars (Angaraka). Here, Lord Shiva is worshipped as Vaidyanathar or Vaitheeswaran meaning the "God of healing" and it is believed that prayers to Vaitheeswaran can cure diseases.  The village is also known for palm leaf astrology called Naadi astrology in Tamil.  Classified as one of the ‘276 Paadal sthalam (temple revered by the nayanars) the temple is located around 7 km from Sirkazhi in the Mayiladuthurai district of Tamilnadu.

Later, in the afternoon visit the Swetharanyeswarar Temple at Thiruvenkadu village in the Mayiladuthurai district also called as Budhan Temple that represents the planet Mercury. Here, Lord Shiva is worshiped as Swetharanyeswarar and is represented by the Swayambumurthi (self-manifested). The shrine of Lord Budhan is situated to the left of the Goddess Parvathy’s shrine. The temple is one of the ‘276 Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalams’ and 11th Shiva Sthalam on the northern bank of the river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu (Vadakarai). The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Swetharanyesarar, Aghora and that of Nataraja, being the most prominent. It is believed that worshipping Budha Bhagavan at Swetharanyeswarar Temple will bless one with good education and knowledge and prosperity.

After a delightful darshan of all Navagraha temples near Kumbakonam and Mayiladuthurai, finally, return to your hotel for a comfortable sleep followed by dinner at your preferred restaurant en route to Kumbakonam.

Day 4: Kumbakonam – Trichy+
