Start the day with a visit to the Tirunageswaram Naganathar Temple also known as Rahu Stalam (represents the North Lunar Node), located in Tirunageswaram, a village in the outskirts of Kumbakonam Tirunageswaram is one of the ‘276 Padal Petra Sthalams’ of lord Shiva and also one of the Panchakrosa Sthalams. The presiding Deity is Giri Gujambika Sametha Naganathaswamy. The Temple attracts devotees who want to get relieved of Naga Dosha. Here, Lord Rahu is seen with a human face while in other places, Lord Rahu is usually seen with a serpent face.
Further, head-on to Saneeswaran Temple (temple for planet Saturn) which is located in a small town called Thirunallar which is 5 K.M. west of Karaikal city, a part of Puducherry Union Territory. Among the nine Navagrahas, Lord Saturn (Saneeswaran) occupies a very important place. Whoever visits this temple and prays before Lord Saneeswaran were believed to have been relieved of all the curses and sufferings and get the blessings of Lord Shani (one of the nine Navagraha) for a happy and prosperous life. This ancient Siva temple was probably constructed in 7th Century A.D. Here, Lord Shiva is worshiped as Swetharanyeswarar and is represented by the Swayambumurthi (self-manifested). The shrine of Lord Budhan is situated to the left of the Goddess Parvathy’s shrine. The temple is one of the ‘276 Devara Paadal Petra Shiva Sthalams’ and 11th Shiva Sthalam on the northern bank of the river Cauvery in Chozha Nadu (Vadakarai). The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Swetharanyesarar, Aghora and that of Nataraja, being the most prominent. It is believed that worshipping Budha Bhagavan at Swetharanyeswarar Temple will bless one with good education and knowledge and prosperity.
