Itinerary

Explore Kumbakonam, Tanjavur, and surrounding Divya Desams including Uppiliappan, Sarangapani, Nachiyar Koil, Thirukandiyur, and Thiruvahindrapuram, ending with a scenic coastal stay in Pondicherry.

Day 1: Chennai – Tanjavurβˆ’

Upon arrival in Chennai, begin your scenic drive towards Tanjavur, the historic capital of the Chola dynasty and a region known for its temple heritage. As you travel through the fertile Cauvery delta, observe lush green fields and traditional villages that define Tamil Nadu’s cultural landscape. Upon reaching Tanjavur, check in to your hotel and relax after the journey. Depending on arrival time, you may take a short walk around the town or explore the local surroundings. The city’s calm atmosphere and spiritual significance make it an ideal base for exploring nearby Divya Desams. Overnight stay in Tanjavur.

Day 2: Tanjavur stay+

Today Visit Thirucherai – Arulmigu Saranatha perumal Temple it is believed that Brahma made a clay pot to rescue and preserve the Vedas during the pralaya and during Thai poosam day the lord is taken in procession on a temple car with five Thayars- Sri devi, Bhoo Devi, Neela Devi, Maha Lakshmi and Saranayaki. Then drive to Thiru Naraiyur – Arulmigu Thirunarayur Nambi Temple, there is a special shrine dedicated to Garudan with nine serpents and is believed to have the powers to remove the Navagraha Dosham. Followed by drive to Nathan Koil – Arulmigi Jagannatha perumal temple also called as Dakshina Jagannatham, the moolavar is Jagannathan in a seated posture and thayar is sheenbagavalli. Then visit Thirukudandhai – Arulmigu sarangapani & Chakrapani Temple which is one of the pancharanga Kshetrams, the shrine is constructed by black granite stone in the form of a chariot with wheels drawn by horses and elephants. Drive to Thiruvinnagar – Arulmigu uppiliappan Temple, the Moolavar here is seen in standing posture and it is believed that those who take salt or salted food inside the temple will go to hell during the festival. Then to Thirupullabhoothanguidi – Arulmigu Valvil ramar perumal Temple, according to history the spot where Lord Rama has rested after offering moksha to Jatayu, drive to Thiru Adhanoor – Arulmigu Aandalakkum Ayyan perumal Temple, the Lord is seen with a Marakkal as a pillow on the left hand is an olai and Ezuttani. Finally drive to Thirukoodalur – Arulmigu Jagathrakshaka Perumal Temple, the original vigrahams in the temple were said to have been washed away in the flood, later Rani Mangammal recovered the idols and renovated the temple. Overnight stay at Tanjore.

Day 3: Tanjavur – Pondicherry Stay+

Today after early break fast drive to Thiru Kavithalam – Arulmigu Gajendra Varadha perumal Temple it is believed that Gajendra the king of elephants was saved by lord Vishnu when caught by a crocodile while plucking the Lotus, then drive to Thiruvelliyangudi – Arulmigu Kolavilli Raman Perumal Temple, it is believed that Sukran, Brahma, Indra, Parasarar,Markandeyan, Mayan and Bhoomi Devi have worshipped Lord Vishu at this place. Then visit Thirukkandiyur -  Arulmigu Hara Saabha Vimochana perumal followed by Thiru Thanjai Maamani kovil – This is the cluster of 03 Temple, considered to be one Divya desham those three are Arulmigu Neelamega Perumal Temple, Arulmigu Manikundra Perumal Temple, Arulmigu Narasimha Perumal Temple, finally drive to Thiruvahindrapuram – Arulmigu Devanatha Swamy Temple it is believed that Adishesha the serpant mount of Lord Vishnu Created this shrine, the place where vedantha desikar lived is preserved as “ Desikan Thiru Maaligai” over night stay at Pondicherry.

Day 4: Pondicherry – Chennai+

After breakfast, enjoy a relaxed morning in Pondicherry. If time permits, explore the charming French Quarter, peaceful streets, and nearby beach promenade that offer a refreshing contrast to the temple journey. Later, proceed towards Chennai for your departure. The drive back provides time to reflect on the spiritual experiences and sacred memories gathered throughout the journey. You will be dropped at Chennai Airport or Railway Station as per your schedule.
