About Sri Agneeswarar Temple

Temple's Unique Charm:

Nestled in Nalladai near Nagapattinam, the stunning Sri Agneeswarar Temple covers two acres. This place has Three Big Entrances, each topped with a grand Tower. I mean, wow, right? Built way back in 1147, this ancient temple houses Lord Shiva in its main area, where he’s surrounded by Water to keep the heat from the idol low key! It's also one of those special 27 Nakshatra temples, and check this – the lord here faces West. That’s pretty rare & that's exactly why more folks find their way here, feeling that it’s super powerful and holy.

Cool Legends:

Got a story for you! So, there was this sage named Mruganda Maharishi. He decided to have a big Yaga (ritual fire) honouring Lord Nalladai. People brought silk clothes as gifts for the ritual. The sage then tossed these silks into the fire (yup, directly into the flames!), & everybody was like "What? Why?". But here's the twist – he just smiled & told them to peek into the holy spot. And there they were – those very silk clothes were now on the Lord! The sage explained all calmly - it’s all about faith, 'cause certain stars like Agni and Bharani Rudrani (remember these names!) send gifts straight to Him. And yes, that’s why this place is extra linked to Bharani star.

Festivity Galore:

Many festivals are commemorated every year. Among the,m Aippasi Annabishekam, KarthigaiSomavarir, Arundra Dharshan, Margali Poojai, Maha Sivarathiri, Panguni Uthiram, and Thai Poojai are some of the famous ones.

Star Connection : Okay, if Bharani Star is your thing? You gotta visit this temple at least once. Why? That west-facing idol kind of doubles your blessings!

When Can You Go : The temple is open from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm, then in the evening from 5.00 pm to 8.30 pm.

What's Special Here : People come here when they hit snags with weddings or when hoping for kids or even sorting out tough planetary vibes.

How to reach Agneeswarar Temple : Now for getting there - Nalladai is pretty close to Mayiladuthurai.
