Mythology:

Guru's (Jupiter) only son, Kasa, got trapped in the demon's world, and so he did penance towards Lord Narayana. After a long period, Lord Narayana appeared before Guru and saved his son by sending Chakrathalwar. From that day onwards, the place where Guru meditated became a temple. As Lord Narayana appeared before Guru in a stunning Ratha (vehicle) on the day of Chitra Star, the temple is named as Chitra Ratha Vallabha Perumal temple.

There are a lot of festivals celebrated in this temple. Among them, Marghali Vaikunta Ekadasi and Guru Peyarchi are notable

Lord Narayana, along with his consorts are made up of sandalwood, which is a rare feature. Lord Chakrathalwar and Guru both grace from their shrines as swayambu moorthis
