Rohini
A Planned Urban District in North Delhi

About Rohini

Rohini is a major residential and commercial district in northwest Delhi, developed as part of the capital’s planned urban expansion. Known for its organised sectors, broad roads, neighbourhood parks and established civic facilities, it has grown into a prominent urban centre within the National Capital Territory. The district combines residential communities with shopping areas, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and recreational destinations, serving both local residents and visitors from surrounding parts of the National Capital Region.

The layout of Rohini is defined by numbered sectors, residential colonies and commercial centres, each supporting everyday life through local markets, schools, public transport and community spaces. Shopping complexes and street markets offer a range of goods and dining options, while larger retail and entertainment destinations attract visitors from across Delhi. Its road network and Delhi Metro connections provide links to other parts of the capital.

Rohini also offers several leisure and family-oriented attractions. Japanese Park, officially known as Swarn Jayanti Park, provides landscaped grounds, walking paths and open spaces for recreation. The district’s sports facilities, local parks and cultural venues add to its appeal as a place to live and spend leisure time.

Religious and cultural landmarks form another part of Rohini’s identity. Temples, gurudwaras and neighbourhood places of worship serve local communities throughout the year, while festivals such as Diwali, Holi, Navratri and Janmashtami bring residents together through celebrations and community events. The area’s diverse population contributes to a mix of cultural practices and food traditions.

With its planned neighbourhoods, recreational attractions, shopping destinations and transport links, Rohini represents an important part of modern Delhi. Its combination of residential convenience and family-friendly leisure options makes it a useful base for exploring northwest Delhi and nearby areas.

  1. Adventure Island: Adventure Island is one of Rohini’s best-known leisure attractions, located opposite Rithala Metro Station in Sector 10. 2. Swarn Jayanti Park (Japanese Park): Spread across a large green area in Rohini, Swarn Jayanti Park is popularly known as Japanese Park. The park features landscaped gardens, walking paths, open lawns and water features, offering space for morning walks, exercise and relaxed outdoor visits. 3. Metro Walk Mall: Located beside Adventure Island, Metro Walk is an open-air shopping and dining destination with retail outlets, fashion stores, restaurants and cafés. Its layout combines shopping with leisure, making it a convenient place to spend time after visiting the amusement park. The adjoining water feature adds to the atmosphere of the complex.
  4. ISKCON Temple, Rohini: ISKCON Temple in Rohini is a religious destination dedicated to Lord Krishna. Devotees visit for prayers, devotional singing and spiritual gatherings, with larger crowds during celebrations such as Janmashtami. 7. Japanese Garden and Landscaped Areas of Swarn Jayanti Park: Within the larger Swarn Jayanti Park, landscaped garden sections provide spaces for strolling, photography and quiet breaks. Best Time to Visit Rohini

Rohini can be visited throughout the year, as its shopping centres, indoor entertainment venues and neighbourhood attractions remain accessible across seasons. However, the cooler months are generally more comfortable for exploring its parks, outdoor spaces and nearby destinations in Delhi. The best time to visit depends on the activities planned and the weather conditions.

  • Autumn (October to November): Autumn brings a gradual drop in temperature after the monsoon, making it a pleasant period for outdoor recreation. The festive season also adds activity to markets and commercial areas.
  • Winter (December to February): Winter is one of the more comfortable seasons for exploring Rohini and other parts of Delhi. Daytime temperatures are often suitable for park visits and sightseeing, although mornings and evenings can be very cold. Dense fog may affect travel, and air quality can be poor at times, so checking local conditions before heading out is advisable.
  • Spring (March): March usually offers moderate weather before summer temperatures rise. As the month progresses, warmer afternoons may make early mornings and evenings more comfortable for visiting open spaces.
  • Summer (April to June): Summer in Delhi can be intensely hot, with temperatures often reaching high levels during the afternoon. Outdoor activities are best planned for early morning or evening, while malls, indoor entertainment venues and other air-conditioned attractions provide alternatives during the hottest hours. Carrying water and limiting exposure to direct sunlight are important.
  • Monsoon (July to September): The monsoon brings periods of rain and higher humidity, offering some relief from the summer heat. Parks and green spaces may look refreshed, but heavy showers can disrupt outdoor plans and cause local waterlogging. Checking the weather forecast is helpful when planning visits to open-air attractions.
