Itinerary

The Maharashtra Splendour tour offered by the Deccan Odyssey allows tourists to traverse through western India to experience a vivid local life and culture. You will start your journey from Mumbai, from where you will head to Nashik for a wine tasting experience at the Grover Zampa Vineyard. Then your tour will take you to Aurangabad, from where you will visit the Ellora Caves. After that, head towards Jalgaon to visit and explore the Ajanta Caves. Then visit the New Palace Museum, the Town Hall Museum, and Shakti Peetha in Kolhapur. You will then visit one of the most visited tourist destinations – Goa, for exploration and adventure, before heading to Sindhudurg. After a fulfilling and adventurous time, return to Mumbai to mark the end of your journey.
Day 1: Mumbai−
Arrive at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus by 16:40 hours to board the train after your check-in and registration process. You will be warmly welcomed by the Deccan Odyssey staff. The train will then depart for Nashik.
Day 2: Nashik+
The train will reach the Nashik station in the morning, and after you savour a delightful breakfast, start your travel with a stroll along the Godavari Ghats. Then drive towards Grover Zampa vineyards and explore India’s finest wine-producing vineyards. Pair your favourite wine with delicious food for an exquisite vineyard experience. Return to the train to leave for Aurangabad. Enjoy your dinner onboard as the train departs for Aurangabad at 18:30 hours.
Day 3: Aurangabad - Ellora Caves+
Named after the last great Mughal Emperor, Aurangabad is a city rich in culture and heritage. After your breakfast, visit the Ellora Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Aurangabad. Explore the total of 34 rock-cut shrines, the Kailash Temple, and afterwards enjoy lunch onboard the Deccan Odyssey. Enjoy your dinner on board the train while on your journey to Jalgaon to explore the famed Ajanta Caves.
Day 4: Ajanta Caves+
The train will arrive at the Jalgaon station, and after you enjoy a delicious breakfast on board, disembark and start your drive towards Ajanta Caves, A UNESCO World Heritage site located in Jalgaon. Explore the 30 rock-cut Buddhist caves and their Buddhist religious paintings. Later return to the train for lunch on board. After engaging in some recreational activities on board and relaxing, enjoy a delightful dinner as the train leaves for Kolhapur.
Day 5: Kolhapur+
After you reach Kolhapur, go for a city tour of Kolhapur, visiting the New Palace Museum and the Town Hall Museum. You can also explore the renowned Kolhapur market to shop for local specialities and souvenirs. You will then leave for a special venue where you will enjoy Lanvanya Sandhya and seek blessings from Shakti Peetha, a Mahalakshmi Temple. Return to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner and an overnight journey to Goa.
Day 6: Goa+
Embark on a Goa sightseeing tour after the train reaches Goa. Drive to Fontainhas, where well-preserved houses are built in the complete Portuguese style of architecture. Take a UNESCO World Heritage Walk through Fontainhas, then head to Ribandar. Explore the churches and ruins of Saint Augustine. Later, drive to the Sahakari spice plantation. After a whole day of exploration, return to the Deccan Odyssey for dinner as the train leaves for Ratnagiri.
Day 7: Sindhudurg+
You will arrive at Sindhudurg, an island just off the coast of Malvan, and after on-board breakfast, explore Sindhudurg. Return to the train for lunch and continue your sightseeing. After you sightseeing and exploration, return to the train, which will then depart for Mumbai as you enjoy dinner.
Day 8: Mumbai+
You will end your journey where it began at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus Railway Station in Mumbai. Bid goodbye after a memorable and adventurous time.

Refund/Cancellation Policy

Your request for cancellation must be made in writing and must be acknowledged by Royal Indian Trains. The terms for refunds and cancellation fees are as follows:
  • If the cancellation request is received more than 61 days before the train tour departure, no cancellation fees will be applied.
  • If the cancellation request is received 47-61 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fee will be 20% of the ticket value.
  • If the cancellation request is received 32-46 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fee will be 50% of the ticket value.
  • If the cancellation request is received less than 32 days before the train tour departure, the cancellation fees applied will be 100% of the ticket value.
  • If the train tour is cancelled due to low occupancy or technical issues, you will be informed in advance and refunded in full, as per RBI guidelines.
