Before Jaipur became the capital, Amer was the original seat of power of the Kachwaha Rajputs, making the fort a vital political and military centre.

Situated: Amer Fort is located on the rugged Aravalli Hills in Amer town, 11 km from Jaipur, Rajasthan. It overlooks the tranquil Maota Lake.
How to Reach: There are 3 modes to reach the Fort entrance. Tourists can take Jeep rides, walk or take elephant rides to reach. However, the elephant rides are subject to government restrictions and operate only in the early morning.
