Napier Museum

Located in the heart of Tiruvananthapuram city in Kerala, Napier Museum houses artefacts dating back to 19th century, an interesting location to explore the history. Researchers, historians and students will find the visit to Napier Museum very interesting

Attractions of Napier Museum:

Exhibits in the Napier Museum include a temple chariot and bronze idols, Indo-saracenic sculptures, wood carvings, intricate carvings made of ivory, paintings and ancient ornaments give you the deeper insight into the rich history and cultural heritage of Kerala. There is also a Natural history museum close to the zoological park.

Getting There:

Napier Museum is located in the center of Tiruvananthapuram city, a prominent location which can be easily accessed by any mode of transport.

Best Time to visit:

Between October and February it will be ideal to visit Kerala, God’s Own Country as the climate will be extremely pleasant. Still, Kerala is a year round destination.

Entry Timings:

Napier Museum:

Napier Museum, also known as Government Museum is open to public from 10.00AM to 4.45PM on all days except Mondays, Wednesday Forenoons, January 26th, August 15th, Onam and Mahanavami.

Natural History Museum:

The museum is kept opened between 10.00AM and 5.00PM. Please note the entry timings on Wednesdays is from 1.00PM to 4.45PM and the museum is closed on Mondays.

Nilambur Teak Museum

One of a kind museum in the world exhibiting the rich heritage and history of teak, the most preferred form of timber is set up in Nilambur, near Malappuram in Kerala. Nilambur is where the world’s first tea plantation was done in 1840 and even today it has one of the premier teak plantations.

Highlights of Nilambur Teak Museum:

Portico of the museum welcomes the visitors with the root system of a 55 years old teak tree. The ground floor of the museum has facilities for research about the oldest kind of teak called Kannimara teak. Exhibits include the bark, flower and fruit of the tea with detailed explanation.Also visit the miniature model of URU, the sailing vessel made of teak wood. You can also get deeper insights into all verticals of Teak plantations.

Getting There:

The teak museum is located at 3kms from Nialmbur Railway Station. You can also plan to reach here from Malappuram,which is 36kms from Calicut international airport.

Best Time to visit:

October to February will be the ideal period to visit Kerala to experience the best of weather conditions.

Entry Timings:

Nilambur teak museum is open to public on all days from 10.00AM to 5.00PM
