Sanghol Museum

Sanghol Museum is one of the popular museums in India, housing the finest collections of the antique artifacts, a must visit location for history buffs and researchers. Sanghol museum is home to the collections dating back to Harappan Civilizations.

What To See in Sanghol Museum?

Potteries, terracotta beads, figurines, bangles which were identified belonging to Harappan period. A single stucco head of Gandhara School , ancient coins dating back to Kushana period, pillars, coping stones from Kushana period are few of the collections here. Most highlighted in the list is motif of a lady squeezing water from her hair after bath, and a swan trying to swallow the droplets thinking as if they are pearls, a wonderful  artwork receiving universal admirations. You can also witness ornaments used during the Mughal period which are on display.

Getting There:

 Sanghol is a village at 40kms from the west of Chandigarh-Ludhiana Road. From Sihind Railway station, one can reach here traveling 16kms.

Best Time to Visit:

October to March is the peak season period and the weather is extremely pleasant. So plan your trip to Punjab during this season.

Entry Timings:

The museum functions between 10.00AM and 5.00PM on all days except Mondays and Public Holidays. No fee is charged to visit this museum.

Art Gallery in Sheesh Mahal

Sheesh Mahal, meaning , palace made of glasses is much renowned among the global travelers for the grandeur of the architecture and the treasures housed inside. The exquisite mirror works and the aesthetic interior designs reminds the visitors of the Mughal period. Located in Patiala, the art gallery inside the Sheesh Mahal, is indeed a treasure trove, much sought after by the history buffs, art lovers and travel fanatics.

What to see in Sheesh Mahal:

Sheesh Mahal is designed similar to the pattern of Shalimar Gardens at Lahore. The prime highlights of Sheesh Mahal is the terraces, fountains, hanging bridge called Laxman Jhoola. The museum inside Sheesh Mahal exhibits paintings, medals, decorative objects. The exquisite works of the artisans are displayed in convex and colored mirrors, a truly unique ambience to enjoy.

Getting There:

Sheesh Mahal is situated in Old Moti Bagh, at a distance of just 5kms from Patiala Railway station / Bus Terminus.
